A Very Easy Banana Apple Bread Recipe

One of my absolute favourite school lunch treats was discovering a piece of  homemade banapple bread tucked in under my sandwich – the perfect save-for-last-never-got-traded-surprise that was actually kinda good for me:

Whip up a batch of your own in a jiffy

It’s a fabulously delicious way to put that overripe fruit to good use!

You’ll need: 1 cup & a bit of flour, 1 – 2 overripe bananas, 3 overripe apples (or any other fruit you have on hand), 1/2 cup butter, 2 eggs, 1/2 cup white sugar, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup chopped nuts, 1/2 cup milk, a pinch o’ salt, a few pinches o’ cinnamon, nutmeg & ginger, 3 teaspoons baking powder & 1 teaspoon baking soda

mix everything except the fruit & nuts together in a bowl & add a few drizzles of honey for fun

peel, core & slice the apples and blend/puree together with the banana(s)

chuck the mushy fruit & nuts on top of the bready batter & mix well

snag a bundt pan (or whatever type of baking dish you desire), grease well & sprinkle with a bit o’ brown sugar – this gives a lovely caramelized crust to the baked bread

pour the batter into the pan and bake at 180 celsius, 350 fahrenheit, gasmark 4 for 40 – 50 minutes

et voila! Delightfully delish banapple bread & a house that smells divine…

serve with a lovely latte on your vintage dessert plates for a positively frou frou snack!
