Simple lace topped shirt refashion: A waterfall neckline fix

Waterfall necklines are irksome bits of fashion annoyance, they never stay put or sit right + they flap & flop all over the place yet for some bizarre reason I discovered more than one of these pesky-collared-tops lurking in my wardrobe! eek!

I promptly donned my refashionista-revamping-cap & got to work transforming:

Isn’t that pretty? Snag your own annoying waterfall top & let the metamorphosis begin!

*using the bottom half of a long-ish loose fitting t-shirt instead of a waterfall neckline is much quicker as it allows you to skip a few steps & just get to adding the lace to the top.

+ a lace table runner

Flip the top inside out & stitch down at an angle from the sides of the neckline to the bottom hem.

Chop off the excess (you should now have a fairly symmetrical tube).

Zig zag over the raw edges to prevent any possible fraying.

Fflip right-side-out & lay on a flat surface with the hem at the top & the (former) neckline at the bottom.

Find the centre of the hem at the top & mark.

Slice the lace table runner in half.

Starting at the marked centre, pin the edge of one half to the front of your nearly-done-top.

Repeat with the other half making sure to overlap the centred corners.

Flip over & pin the remaining ends to the back.

Pop the top onto your bust to check the fit.

If you don’t have a bust just slip it on a hanger & eyeball it.

Head over to your machine & stitch it all together.

Make sure to leave a few centimetres under the arms lace-free for ease-of-movement.

Stitch around the top for extra strength.

…and delight in your romantic new top!
