How To Easily Make Tantalizing Sticky Toffee

As a tot with a very large extended family, holidays meant shuttling from relative to relative to have chubby cheeks pinched, forehead slobbered with kisses & legions of unwanted squeezes.

My reward(s) for adorably & angelically enduring all of this attention?

Homemade wacky sugar-high inducing sweets (+ a load of fantastic handcrafted gifts!).

One of my absolute faves was Great Auntie’s ooey-gooey melt-in-your-mouth-and-all-over-your-hands toffee:

Whip up a batch & you’ll have your kiddos racing about the house in no time flat!

You’ll need: 2 cups of sugar, 75g chocolate, 1 tsp vanilla, 1/2 cup condensed milk, 1 cup nuts (if desired)

Melt sugar, chocolate, vanilla & milk together over medium heat. Once all ingredients have liquified reduce heat & simmer for 5 – 10 minutes, stirring constantly.

Quick tip: for a less gooey toffee result simply reduce the amount of milk & add 3 – 5 tbsp of icing sugar

Remove from heat & stir in nuts.

Pour into a buttered casserole dish (or pan) & refrigerate until firm

melty messy ooey gooey goodness…

that simply must be served with an ice cold (dairy-free) milk!
