Combat Car Seat Chaos with DIY seat storage

Finally having a car is awesome but between the dude needing everything “in case of emergency” & the baby needing…well just everything…period, the back seat was a tad chaotic…until I made these in less than hour:

here’s how:

Measure the space between the headrest posts, the top of the seat to the bottom & the width

Find some sturdy, funky fabric in your stash & using your seat measurements cut it to size then hem the edges if necessary (pockets too!)

Once my fabric was cut & hemmed I popped out the car to double-check my measurements, while there I marked exactly where to sew the holes-to-attach-it-to-the-headrest-posts

Using a tight wide zigzag stitch a small square around the head rest post marks

Carefully snip out the inside of the squares

Arrange the pockets (I placed mine about 20cms above the bottom edge as I wanted to tuck the remaining fabric into the existing seat pockets)

Stitch ’em on…

Create pockets within pockets by simply stitching a straight line from top to bottom

All done! Take your new storage pockets out to the car & pop ’em onto the head rest posts!

Replace the head rests, tuck the bottom into the existing seat pockets & fill ’em up!

…and in a couple of days add some more…

and I’m sure by the end of the week there’ll be even more necessities added!
